7 Days Itinerary from Athens-Saronic

Day 1: Embarkation in Alimos Marina – Perdika, Aegina 21 nm We start sailing our catamaran to Aegina, the island that was the first capital of modern Greece after the Greek Revolution in 1821. Our first stop is one of the bays on the East side that provide shelter from the north winds and will allow us to have our first swim. We continue to Perdika and we spend the night in the small fishing harbor. Dinner on the quay in one of the tavernas is highly recommended.

Day 2: Perdika, Aegina – Hydra, 14 nm After we have our breakfast we decide if we want to start sailing immediately or if a visit to an archaeological site could fit in the program. If so, a taxi could drive us to Afea temple near Aghia Marina, a very well preserved antiquity. If not, we head to Nisis (Islet) Spathi and we drop anchor to the south east, on the lee of the small island where we enjoy the Caribbean colored waters. Later, we moor in the busy little port of Hydra. This is one of the most beautiful spots of Greece and the fact that there are no cars or motorbikes on the island make it even more special. If you are in mood for walking follow the coast road to the south and you will be rewarded by the sea view. If you are too tired for something like that, just try the donkey ride. Interesting visit: the Historical Museum of the island.

Day 3: Hydra – Spetses, 18 nm First anchoring spot is the bay of Dhokos Island. But before heading for the site of the most ancient shipwreck in Greece, we sail along the coast of Hydra and admire the small villages, bays, little churches and old captains’ mansions. After Dhokos, we head for Spetses, but on the way we take care of the Aimilianos reef on our way there. We try to find a spot in the old port, otherwise we stay in an alternative port according to weather, availability and the Greek Waters Pilot directions. The port of Spetses is lovable, as well, and walking in the small streets among the old houses will offer many nice images to remember. Later, a visit to one of the many bars in the old port could last longer than anticipated.

Day 4: Spetses – Ermioni, 23 nm Spetses exploration day: We sail all around Spetses, stopping with our catamaran wherever we feel like. We must only be careful in the straight between Spetses and Spetsopoula (Niarchos’ private island) because there is a reef, but a study of charts will notify us of this and any other danger. Later, we head north to Ermioni, a quiet and very protected port.

Day 5: Ermioni – Poros, 22 nm We sail our catamaran to Poros, an island just a few hundred meters away from the Peloponnese. Of course, we do not head straight to the port, but we spend many relaxed hours in the various protected bays in the bay. We can stop at the Russian Bay, named so after it’s use as a Russian naval base in the 1800’s, or at Neorion, where we can practice water sports at Passage ski-school. We dock at Poros and spend the evening in the traditional town.

Day 6: Poros – Epidavros, 14 nm We raise the sails of our catamaran and we head for Epidavros. On our way, we stop just outside the west exit of Poros channel, in the narrow cove, just after the light house. We swim there undisturbed from wind and ship wakes. Next swimming spot is north of Epidavros, and after that we enter the small port. Here is located the best preserved ancient theater of Greece, famed for its acoustic. You can visit the site by a taxi, or if you are not in mood for an excursion, you can just walk near the town to the small ancient theater. Tip: at the bay to the south there are the remains of a submerged ancient village!

Day 7: Epidavros – Alimos Marina, 31 nm This is our last day in the sea so we start relative early. First stop is Limenaria on Agistri. We swim and we can also have lunch at the small taverna on the beach. We continue sailing and we dock our catamaran to our final destination, Alimos Marina.

Day 8: Disembarkation

Τhe above described itinerary is invitational and the final decision should be based on the weather conditions and the judgment of the skipper.
