Sporades (Skiathos Port)
The North Sporades islands lie near the East coast of Central Greece. The group consists of four inhabited islands (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos and Skyros) and several uninhabited ones (Peristera, Kyra Panagia, Yioura, Psathoura). Although in proximity to the Cyclades the only similarity is the magnificent beaches and the high sunshine records. These islands are much greener with trees growing next to the sea and the distances between them are shorter. The marine area is a natural park and home of the biggest colony of Monk seals in the Mediterranean Sea.
Our catamaran base is the Port of Skiathos. You can reach it either by air (domestic and international flights) or by ferry from Ag. Konstantinos.
Sailing conditions: Between May and September, the dominant winds in the North Aegean blow from the north at force 2-5. The strength of the meltemi is much less than in the central Aegean and although you will find many chances to sail fast it is not as challenging. The distance between the islands is short and unless you decide to sail to the North and Halkidiki Peninsula you will not face open water sailing conditions. In the lee of the islands and the Gulf of Orei you are protected from the swells.
